The Emmaus Suffolk Big Climb
On Friday Rose Builders took part in ‘The Emmaus Suffolk Big Climb’. The indoor rock climbing day was all about well being and team spirit, mental agility and problem solving in support of Emmaus Suffolk.
The charity provides education, training (including employment training) and work opportunities, and brings about the relief of poverty and resulting distress by helping people develop their skills in order to gain future employment, and maintain their sense of self-worth and dignity. Since opening its first retail outlet at the Dales in Feb 2016, the charity has opened a further retail outlet at Sailmakers in Ipswich town centre and this has recently been joined by a third outlet in Felixstowe. The Dales site is the charity hub offering a small café, community garden both open to the public plus up-cycling workshop as well as laundry facilities and a shower room for volunteers. They have helped and worked with 244 people since opening, 31 volunteers have moved on into employment. They offer support and advice on employment, mental health, training and life skills to name a few things. 60% of their charitable costs are covered by their own trading income and they have no statutory funding. https://www.emmaussuffolk.org.uk’
