Meaningful Lives Matter – Goldlay Gardens, Chelmsford, Essex

It is amazing to see how previous developments we’ve been involved in are now being lived in.

We were proud to have been chosen to deliver Essex Homes’ first development, Goldlay Gardens in Chelmsford. This exceptional residential development of 32 apartments, comprised of 23 private units and 9 specialist units for young people with learning disabilities who are transitioning into adulthood.

One of these specialist units went to Dan, who has made the transition into his own home through the Meaningful Lives programme. Meaningful Lives is a programme to help people with autism or a learning disability lead fulfilling lives in Essex

This first project helped spearhead a significant development programme that has and will continue to contribute to Essex County Council achieving their strategic aims and priorities, and will deliver a range of accommodation to improve outcomes for Essex residents including:

– Affordable homes to meet local housing need.
– Homes for market sale to generate capital receipts.
– Generation of health and social care savings through the provision of specialist accommodation (Learning Disability, Mental Health, Older People).
– Mixed developments that re-provide operational building to reduce maintenance liabilities and operating costs across the public estate.
