Colchester City Council Celebrates Completion of Affordable Housing Development at Cross Cottages, Boxted
Colchester City Council’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of high-quality, affordable housing has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the Cross Cottages development in Boxted. The new site, now officially named Silver Band Close, comprises four one-bedroom maisonettes, two two-bedroom bungalows, and one four-bedroom wheelchair accessible home. Both the bungalows and the ground-floor maisonettes feature accessible wet rooms, underscoring the Council’s dedication to inclusive living spaces.
The development was undertaken by Rose Builders, whose exemplary workmanship and attention to detail have been widely praised. Kate Dale from the Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) team commended Rose Builders for their exceptional contribution:
“I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional work Rose Builders have undertaken in delivering our recent 10 new homes at the Cross Cottages and Veronica Walk. Your team’s dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to quality have been instrumental in achieving our vision. The craftsmanship and professionalism demonstrated by Rose Builders have not gone unnoticed. These developments are among the best I have seen handed over to CBH / CCC. The finished homes stand as a testament to your team’s expertise and tireless efforts as house builders. We truly appreciate the long hours, problem-solving skills, and unwavering commitment of all involved in these projects. Please pass on my personal appreciation and thanks. Thank you for making our dream homes a reality.”
The naming of Silver Band Close serves to commemorate the Boxted Methodist Silver Band’s 125th Anniversary, celebrating its unique status as the only surviving Methodist Silver Band in England.
This development marks a significant step forward in Colchester City Council’s ongoing mission to provide high-quality, council-owned, affordable housing to meet the diverse needs of the community. The Council remains dedicated to fostering inclusive and accessible living environments for all residents.
