Building Futures Brick by Brick: Delivering Much-Needed Affordable Homes
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a ‘Bricklaying’ ceremony at our Elmsett site in Suffolk for Eastlight Community Homes, inviting local residents and councillors to join us.
This development will provide nine high-quality homes for social rent and nine for shared ownership. The event allowed residents and stakeholders to meet our dedicated teams, tour the construction site, and get an early glimpse of the homes.
The properties are being built using sustainable practices, following our Eastlight-led Development Design Guide to achieve a high Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating.
Andrew Allocca, Eastlight’s Head of Development Delivery and Aftercare, said: “Our goal here is to address the pressing local housing need within Suffolk by delivering a fully affordable scheme that local residents both want and need.”
Throughout the delivery process, Eastlight has engaged in extensive communications and consultations with the local authority and parish councils. This has been crucial for building better relationships in the local community and ensuring the plans align with their needs and aspirations.
Justyn French, Project Director for ROSE, added: “This site perfectly exemplifies how Eastlight Community Homes reinvests every pound into providing urgently needed affordable homes across the East of England, in a way that respects the environment and enhances how people want to live now and in the future.”
