Ben’s Polar Challenge
We are proud to support Ben Edwards, aged 14 who has joined an expedition (www.polarocean.co.uk), led by the explorer David Hempleman-Adams, to be the first British team (and only the third team ever) to sail round the North Pole in one season, through the Northeast and Northwest passages.
Ben will be the youngest person ever to achieve this.
Ben is raising money for research into bowel diseases in children, especially Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The research is a collaboration between Cambridge University and the University Hospital Addenbrookes, to identify the triggers for these diseases. The researchers have biopsies from over 1,000 children with gut disease and Ben is hoping to raise £20,000 to pay for a PhD student to analyse the biopsies.
