Atlantic Nomads – 3,000 mile challenge to row across the ocean
We are delighted to be supporting the Atlantic Nomads as they take on the gruelling Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge.
On the 12th December Tom Rose, James Woolley, Taylor Winyard and Euan Fraser will be taking on a monumental challenge and rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.
They will be leaving the safety of La Gomera in the Canary Islands and rowing unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean to Antigua – ‘The Worlds Toughest Row’.
They are doing the challenge to raise funds for Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans (www.alabare.co.uk/get-involved/homes-for-veterans) who provide supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
To be able to make it to the start line of the race they need to complete mandatory safety and training courses, a minimum of 120 hours training out on the water as well as over 18 months of physical training in the gym and rowing machine.
They also needed the help from their sponsors to raise enough funds for a 28-feet ocean rowing boat called ‘Doris’, safety equipment and 60 days of food for each team member.
Sponsors include, So Stobo, Charles Stanley, Silverton, Hills Group Self Storage, Think BDW, Swift Scaffolding, JCKitchens, Scape, Brooks Bros, Beachrock, Student Fusion, EO, Cushman & Wakefield, O’Brien McPherson Racing, Royal Bank of Scotland, Holt’s Military Banking, Phase 2 Planning, H2O (Homes 2 Office), Brice Concrete, Arcady Architects and Whites Farm (Scobie).
We wish the crew a safe crossing and look forward to tracking their journey!
