Affordable Housing Initiative Aims to Empower Young Local Residents
The Lawford Housing Enterprise Trust (LHET) is pleased to announce that the next phase of houses at Lawford Green will be delivered by Rose at the end of the year. This crucial initiative is dedicated to providing affordable rented housing for young local individuals who have a local connection to the Parishes of Lawford, Manningtree, and Mistley.
The LHET schemes are designed to support tenants in saving funds towards a deposit to buy their own homes. Unlike traditional rental agreements, no fees are required upon occupancy. Instead, tenants make an affordable monthly payment that includes their rent and an additional sum earmarked for future home ownership.
“We are thrilled with the success of this scheme, which has seen a majority of our tenants transition into buying their own homes,” said Andy Bowles, Director of LHET. “We hope to expand this initiative further across new developments in the future.”
The Lawford Green project represents a significant milestone in the Trust’s mission to alleviate the housing challenges faced by young people in the local communities. The innovative approach not only provides immediate housing solutions but also paves the way for long-term financial stability and home ownership.
Applications for the new homes at Lawford Green will open on June 12, 2024. For more information or to apply, please contact info@lhet.org.
