Works have begun on a substation which will provide electricity for new homes in Jaywick Sands. The electrical plant will power ten new homes being built by Tendring District Council (TDC) in the village, off Lotus Way.
The infrastructure is needed before construction can start on the homes, which will be made up of five council homes and five homes for sale with priority for all 10 being given to local residents. Once built, the substation can also support further planned development in the Jaywick Sands area.
TDC is primarily funding the new homes, alongside a grant contribution from Homes England which has been working in partnership with the council and residents to bring forward this much-needed new development.
